A report in the Canadian Medical Association Journal found that people who took ginseng every day caught fewer colds.
Of the study’s 279 participants, 130 took two 400-mg capsules of North American ginseng extract every morning for 4 months, while the others took a placebo. The pill poppers reported 26 percent fewer colds than the control group, and those who did get sick recovered 5 days sooner on average.
