Tip #47, Be smart when ordering Take-Out!
You can still enjoy what many call “fast food” when ordering take out. You just heave to make better choicesJ Lets’ take Chinese food.
Good: Chicken and Cashews
The protein will fill you up and the cashews will satisfy your carving for comfort food without the excess of oil and sugar.
Better: Shrimp and Broccoli
Stir fry means minimal fat. Cancer fighting broccoli is a great source of Vitamin C and A as well as folate and fiber. I just read that shrimp has fewer calories and less fat than chicken or beef. (Lisa Margolin, a holistic nutritionist and co-author of “Viva’s Healthy Dining Guide”).
Best: Buddha’s Delight
Bean curd, rich in calcium and fiber, is served with an array of vitamin and mineral packed vegetables and herbs. Yum!
WORST: General Tsao’s Chicken
Chicken chunks are rolled in egg and cornstarch and deep fried in oil, then drowned in a sugary sauce. It may taste good, but it is so bad for you. Deadly!
So before your place that order to go, take a minute to think about what you’re ordering. You’ll be glad you did!
